Boo! Did I scare you? I know, I know, it’s been a while. The end of 2019 was just insane for me, and I simply didn’t have the time to write much on my blog. But i’m back, and yes, It’s finally time once more for me to drag my lazy butt out of an unannounced semi-hiatus to take a look at the newest seasonal anime headed our way. The first one i’m looking at is Somali and the Forest Spirit.

First impressions are good here. With some gorgeous background artwork, nice music and an interesting premise of the world, Somali tells the story of a Golem who adopts a young human child as his own, taking them on a journey to find any remnants of humanity in a world now totally dominated by monsters.
I found myself adoring this show very early in, as Somali’s youthful enthusiasm and penchant for mischief act as a perfect counter to the golem’s solemn, emotionless visage. The two characters interact in such a cute way, the golem doting and protective, even without emotions, while Somali visibly desires a closer relationship with their foster parent.

If you’re looking for a heartwarming fantasy story to fill the void left by Demon Daughter from last year, I’d recommend giving Somali a try. You might find yourself falling in love. As always, thank you all so much for reading, and I’ll see you all in the next post!
