First Impressions: Azur Lane (The Anime)

It’s finally that time again, guys. A new season means new anime, and that means new First Impressions posts! Seeing as i’ve got quite a few things i’m excited to see this season, I figured we’d start off with my very most anticipated new release this Fall!! The Azur Lane anime is out, and I couldn’t be happier.

Norfolk is just adorbs!

Those of you who know me know i’m a HUGE fan of Azur Lane. It’s my favorite mobile game for sure. Not only is the quality of the visuals, music, and gameplay very high, but it’s also a very Free-to-Play friendly game, something that most mobile games seem pretty loathe to do…

Of course, I went into the Anime with fairly tempered expectations (as is normal for a mobage anime). Thankfully, my expectations were absolutely blown out of the water!!! The girls are all absurd amounts of adorable, and it just looks really good in general. The music is nice, the animation is smooth, and the OP is REAL good. Give it a listen, yeah?

Pretty good, right? And it only gets better from there. As a fan of the game, I was overjoyed to see so many little moments between the various characters, just helping to reinforce the characters already built up in the game’s lore and voicelines so far.

Watashi no numbah wan…

Overall, it might just be enjoyment because i’m already a fan of the game, but it’s undeniable that there’s been a lot of work and care put into making this show look and sound as good as it does. Chips are still up in the air as to whether the story will end up being any good, but… I guess we’ll learn more about that as the show continues to release, eh?

Ayanami is best girl. Change my mind.

I’m not the only one who loved it, though. A lot of the people in my discord (who also play AL) were pretty freaking hyped about the anime. We had some plenty hyped discussions both before and after the episode launched… here’s just a taste of our excitement.

I’d love to hear what you guys think of the show so far. Let me know your thoughts down in the comments! As always, thank you all so very much for reading, and I’ll see you all in the next post.
