If it’s For My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat the Demon Lord – First Impressions

OH. MY. GOSH. You guys have no idea how long I’ve been hoping for an adaptation of these series, it being one of my favorite Light Novel series of all time… probably in my top 5 somewhere. I just LOVE this series, and was super excited to see it get an adaptation.

And how’d that turn out?

Who can say no to that face?

In a word… Brilliantly. This was a very nice first episode. Latina is just as adorable as expected (possibly even more so), and they already seem to have really well-captured the main touching points of the story, as well as the growing relationship between Dale and Latina. I mean, the main point of this story is just how wholesome it is… and goodness, it’s wholesome as heck.

The animation so far is… fine. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it serves the purpose of what the show is doing so far. I do hope they’ve saved some of the animation budget for some potential sakuga moments later in the series, but who knows.

I can’t wait to see these two grow up…

I think the biggest stumbling point this show will have is that, well… it’s rather slow in the beginning. There’s a lot to the story, as laid out in the Light Novels, and it takes a while to set up the setting, all the characters, and everything else before really diving into the deep nitty gritty that makes this series shine. I do fear that in only 12 episodes, they probably won’t get anywhere close to the real meat of the series… but we’ll see, I guess.
