12 Days Wrap-up

Well, I’m a day late with this, but i’ll count it as my Day 12 of the 12 Days of Anime posting. After all, I did make a promise to finish, though I didn’t expect how busy i’d get over the holidays, having a surprise friend’s wedding to attend in addition to some other things. All that said, I wanted to take this last post to look back on the whole 12 Days thing, showcase some of the amazing posts I read, and talk about my own experience along the way.

First up, the wonderful Irina had an amazing post about Sachiko Fujinuma from Erased, her importance in the scheme of the show, and the importance of strong mother figures overall. It’s really a great read, and one I highly recommend everyone check out. Irina is a great writer, and this post is not one to be missed. (I’m still waiting on her Let’s Make a Shounen post, though…)

I can’t make an appreciation post without mentioning Karandi from 100WordAnime, of course. Her 12 Days posts consisted of some really interesting character analyses of various characters we saw throughout the year. There’s a lot of insight and thought put into these, and I definitely think everyone should check them out!

Aria, from The Animanga Spellbook had a very interesting post about the nature of the complex politics seen in Eden of the East. While I haven’t seen the show, her post really made me want to check it out. Even without having seen the show, her concise and well-thought-out takes on the themes seen in the show make it very easy to understand, and it’s an interesting post overall.

The fantastic Ka-chan has a great post about Violet Evergarden. Relating the show to some difficult times she was going through personally at the time, she was really able to empathize with Violet, and ultimately, her post perfectly details what I also love about Violet Evergarden: the humanity that it shows, and the power to overcome pain and loss. It’s a very heartwarming and personal post, and I greatly recommend it.

This list wouldn’t be complete without a Yuru Camp post… so here’s one from cks_anime on Roving Thoughts. He talks about his feelings about Rin, the main character of Yuru Camp, as well as the show as a whole.

My final pick is a post from The Anime Duck Compendium, about a show I adore, but haven’t seen almost anything about recently… Utawarerumono. It’s an absolutely wonderful series, and if you haven’t seen it, definitely give it a try. This post focuses a lot on the aspects of family and unity seen in the series, and ultimately make everything meaningful.

I had a lot of fun with this challenge, even if I sometimes struggled a bit to keep up with it. It was a great opportunity to get out a lot of my thoughts and feelings throughout the year, and the incredible amount of bloggers also doing this was insane.
