Those of you who are watching this show will understand when I say that this show is unbelievably gorgeous, as far as the visuals go. Colors, textures, lighting, and shadows are all done so magnificently well that the show is deliciously easy on the eyes. That being said, i’d like to learn more about the fantasy world, and why the restaurant doors appear in various places around the world.
Finally we learn the story of the lizardman. The whole story of the lizardman culture and how they found the door is explained in a fashion that seems very much like a documentary. Apparently lizardmen love eggs more than anything, and they have a ritual where the strongest warrior of the tribe gets to go into the restaurant and bring back omeletes. Next up, a young elf girl, whose picky demands for cuisine force the master to whip up an off-menu item, the Tofu Steak. After tasting the master’s food, she decides that she will create a dish that is superior, to please her deceased mother.
This show is always so nice to watch, easy on the eyes and ears, and just overall well-made. I can’t help but feel like there’s more story that we’re missing out on, though. Who is the dragon lady from episode 1? What all is going on in this fantasy world? And why is Nekoya able to manifest portals into another world? I hope the show gives us these answers eventually.
