Gamers! Episode 2

Ok, let’s get this out of the way right off the bat… That OP is freaking AMAZING. I love the visuals combined with the great music, that chip-tune undertone perfectly fits the show and what it’s about. Episode 2 starts right where the first left off, everyone stunned as Karen runs sobbing from the classroom. Tasuku shows some complex emotions at the classes treatment of Keita, but ultimately does nothing about it, choosing to sit on the sidelines. We see a lot more of Tasuku this episode, as he wonders about his current life, his past, his relationship with his girlfriend Aguri, and just about everything else.

When Tasuku and his crew all go to hang out at the arcade, Tasuku ditches them, running into Keita near the crane games. Keita and Tasuku, surprisingly, hit it off pretty well, playing a variety of games together before Keita spots the rest of Tasuku’s friends and bolts. Tasuku follows him, and they have an argument on a bridge, eventually coming to terms as equals, and realizing they are very similar. Afterwards, Tasuku meets back up with Aguri, who reveals she has been in love with him since middle school, during his “nerdy” days, and changed herself to meet his standards so he would like her. Tasuku realizes that he really does love Aguri, and runs away, embarrassed.

Man, this episode was great. The show itself has so many adorably funny and cute moments, but the bonding scenes between Tasuku and Keita were really well-written, and the scene at the end between Tasuku and Aguri was genuinely touching. This show is definitely a keeper, and if you haven’t picked it up by now, I highly recommend that you do so.

Gamers! airs on Thursdays, and is available on Crunchyroll.
